The 77th edition of the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival, which was recently held in France, is buzzing. This year at Cannes, a festival of world film and fashion, Enora, directed by American director Sean Baker, won the top prize, the Palme d’Or.
The film, about the intimate relationship between dancer Mikey Madison and Marc Idelstein, the promiscuous son of a Russian tycoon, is Baker’s third film to be selected at Cannes. Before this, he was selected for The Florida Project and Red Rocket Kabans.
After receiving the award, Baker said he would dedicate his award to sex workers past, present and future. Similarly, Indian director Payal Kappadio received the Grand Prix Award, the second major award to be presented at Cannes. She won the award for All Will Imagine Yaz Light. His film tells the story of the relationship between three Mumbai women of different ages and classes.
Miguel Gomes won the director award for the film Grand Tour, Jesse Plemons won the actor award for Kind of Kindness, and Amelia Perez won the actress and jury awards for the film.
Likewise, Coralie Fargit received Screenplay for The Substance, Film Armand for Camera the Hour, Mongrel for Camera the Hour Special Mention, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent Short Film Palm the Hour, Bad for a Moment Short Film Special Mention, Ernest Cole: Lost and Found and The Break of Dreams won the Golden Eye Documentary Award, Three Kilometers to the End of the World won the Queer Palm and Drug on Trial won the Palm the Dog Award. Indian actress Anusuya Sen Gupta won the Performance Award in the On Certain Regard category for the film The Seamless, which was shot in Nepal.
This time the head of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and rapper Balendra (Balen) Sah participated in the Cannes Film Festival. He arrived in France to participate in the festival at the invitation of the mayor of Cannes and participated in events including the red carpet world premiere of the Hollywood film Megalopolis.
