Kathmandu. Many suspicions have been raised after the delay in the receipt of the bill for the maintenance of the narrow body aircraft of the Nepal Airlines Corporation, callsign ‘9N-AKX’.
Suspicions have started on the management of the corporation when the bill did not come even after a month after the ship was repaired. The aircraft was repaired and brought to Kathmandu a month ago after 3 and a half months at Israel Aerospace Industry ‘IAI’.
Ramesh Paudel, the spokesperson of the corporation, said that it is not possible to say how much has been spent on the repair until the bill is received. “It has been a month since the ship arrived, but the final repair bill has not been received from IAI,” he said.
The delay in receipt of the bill is taken as an opportunity to settle the commission within the corporation. “The fact that the bill has not arrived yet means that you are trying to eat a lot of money by showing that you have spent a lot of money. Otherwise, there is no way that the bill will not come for such a long time,’ said an officer of the corporation, ‘on the one hand, delaying is being done in the name of trying to investigate the delay in the repair, on the other hand, the bill is being delayed because of how to collect a lot of money.’
In order to show that the expenses were high, the corporation management issued a statement that 31 blades in the ship’s engine had to be completely replaced. ‘There is no reason to believe that 31 blades were changed. This is a pattern of money-eating,’ said the officer of the corporation.
The ship, which was sent to Israel on December 26, was brought to Kathmandu on April 14 due to an engine problem on November 15. After the question was raised about the delay in maintenance, the executive chairman of the corporation, Yuvraj Adhikari, formed a study committee under the coordination of senior captain Sudhir Rai on 23rd May to investigate it. The committee has been given 15 days but it has not yet worked.
‘The study committee was formed only to confuse the questioners. The delay in the repair is due to the weakness of the management. What should the committee do to investigate this?’, said the officer.
Paudel, the spokesperson of the corporation, claimed that the committee is working to collect compensation from IAI, which has been entrusted with the maintenance. ‘Compensation claims require intensive study. Legal opinion should also be taken. That is why the work of the committee has been prolonged,’ he said.
