Kathmandu. Today, all the countries have to announce the list of final 15 players for the ICC T-20 Cricket World Cup to be held in the West Indies and America. While all countries are preparing to publish the final list, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has requested the ICC to extend the time to publish the final list.
Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane was not in the previous World Cup squad. He is not included because he is in the legal process of the court. Sandeep, who was acquitted by the High Court of Patan, has been released from the suspension to include him in the World Cup squad. The officials of CAN, who had already informed the ICC by letter, are now under stress after Sandeep’s visa was ‘rejected’ by the American Embassy, and although they are busy for political meetings, they have not received any positive message.
Due to this, CAN has written to ICC and requested Nepal to announce the final 14-member team today and to give some time i.e. until June 2. According to CAN sources, the list of 14 players will be published today, if Sandeep gets a visa and is able to go to America by June 2, the list of the last 15 will be published including him.
The day after he was acquitted, he was confident that he would go until he reached Can and asked him to proceed with the paperwork, saying that he still had a 2-year visa. However, when he was preparing to leave, when he received an email that Sandeep’s previous visa had been cancelled, he started a new process again. According to the new process, after he was rejected by the embassy when he applied for a visa, now the Nepal Cricket Association and the government have taken initiatives. It is said that the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Youth and Sports and the Cabinet are facilitating this matter.
According to the foreign source, despite the request to make a diplomatic note in foreign countries on the recommendation of sports, the note has not been prepared yet. Because of this, when Sandeep’s visa process is in confusion, people close to Sandeep have objected to social media users publishing the news of Sandeep’s visa.
Since the American Embassy is closed on Saturday and Sunday, the matter of proceeding with the new process will be decided only on Monday. According to the sources, the foreign affairs officials are in the process of making diplomatic notes only after coordinating with the embassies and confirming the issuance of visas. Nepal is playing the ICC T-20 World Cup from June 4. Nepal, which is in Group D, will start its journey in the World Cup for the second time by playing against the Netherlands.
