Billionaire Elon Musk Artificial Intelligence (AI) will take away jobs have said. At the Vivatech 2024 conference held on Thursday, he said that even if the job will be lost, it will not be bad.
‘Maybe none of us will have jobs,’ he said.
Musk also said that in the future, jobs will only be ‘options’.
‘If you want to work only as a hobby or desire, you can work. But, AI and robots will provide any goods and services you want,’ he said.
He said that ‘universal high income’ is needed for this work arrangement. He also said that it should be different from Universal Basic Income (UBI). But he did not reveal what system it should be based on. (Government giving a certain amount to everyone regardless of how much they earn is called UBI.)
“Services and goods will not be insufficient,” he said.
However, he noted that as AI and robots do much of the work, humans will still have some role to play.
In the same program, Musk also asked parents to limit the time their children spend on social media.
“I urge parents to reduce their children’s use of social media because they are programmed with dopamine to increase their use of AI,” he said.
He argued that AIs in social networks are in competition to increase dopamine. So he mentions in X too that many social networks are bad for children.
