Kathmandu. Nepal Telecom has upgraded PSTN and ADSL services operated by old copper technology to FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network of modern fiber technology.
Telecom has upgraded PSTN and ADSL services to FTTH network in Patan and Sambu in Lalitpur.
Managing Director of Telecom, Sangeeta Pahadi, announced the closure of the copper technology service at an event held in Patan on Friday. She called the process of converting copper technology to modern fiber technology as the progress of the company.
Under FTTH technology, through NT fiber, customers can use telephone, high-speed Internet and television services with HD quality sound through a single cable.
While the capacity of the old J-rack exchange of copper technology is around 36 thousand, the capacity of the OLT currently connected to the FTTH network in Patan office is 53 thousand 400 and the active customer is more than 20 thousand. Similarly, Sambu has more than 3 thousand customers.
Telecom continues to replace old copper technology across the country.
