A member of Bangladesh’s ruling party has been found murdered in Kolkata, India.
MP Anwarul Azim Anar was killed. According to the Indian media, he was found murdered on Wednesday, a week after his disappearance.
Anwarul Azim Anar, 56, went to India on May 12. He disappeared within a day of reaching India for treatment. A complaint was registered with the Kolkata Police on May 18 after the disappearance of MP Azim Anar.
Currently, Bangladesh Police and Kolkata Police have jointly started an investigation into this incident. The police have arrested four Bangladeshis on the charge of murder.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also expressed deep grief over the death of the MP.
Azim Anar won three consecutive terms from the Awami League party.
